Advancement in AI Paves Way to All-New Pollination Robots

In recent times, the advancement in innovation and technology is transforming the way we live, work, and play. Especially the encroachment in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) sector is bringing in bounteous changes in the farming and agriculture sector. Farmers have relied on insects, wind, and even human workers to help pollinate their crops for a long time. AI is helping few startups develop another way to pollinate plants: robots.

Several startups are testing robots to pollinate everything from raspberries to cashews worldwide. And many robotic countries across the globe are confident in robots’ abilities and believe that they will soon deploy a fleet to pollinate several plants grown in the greenhouses. The pollination robots could give future farmers a significant advantage by increasing crop productivity compared with insects, such as bees, and the human workers who are sometimes needed to help with certain crops.

Besides, scientists are also worried that insect populations are gradually declining due to habitat loss, pesticide use, climate change, and other factors, making pollination robots even more important. The robotic revolution is being sped up deep learning, which trains artificial neural networks that mimic the human brain. This makes it easier for startups to develop robots that can quickly and accurately identify flowers for pollination.
