EnerVenue is gearing up to revolutionize the renewables segment with its nickel-hydrogen batteries

In few cases, renewable energies tend to build out, leading to under-generation or over-generation of electricity that might need heavier storage capacities. Grids require quite a few batteries, and now lithium-ion batteries are used widely for EVS, battery startup, and consumer electronics. Popular energy company EnerVenue has stated that it has now developed a revolutionary energy storage technology that can outperform the current market offerings. The technology used by Enervenue is nickel-hydrogen batteries which aren’t quite new to the market as it was used before to power satellites, Hubble Telescope, and ISS.

What is now making EnerVenue’s offering unique is the fact that the solutions are more scalable and affordable when compared to the previous offerings from others. Yi Cui, a professor from Standford University, has identified a way to bring the cost down and adapt the materials economically. According to EnerVenue, nickel-hydrogen has numerous benefits when compared to lithium-ion as it can withstand varying temperatures and it requires very little maintenance with a better lifespan. The technology has managed to gain the attention of two big names in the oil and gas segment. Saudi Aramco’s VC arm and Schlumberger and Stanford University have managed to raise more than 100mn in the Series A round.
