Azure Purview’s general availability was recently made public by Microsoft
Tech giant Microsoft has recently made an announcement regarding the general availability of its data governance solution ‘Azure Purview.’ The solution is known for providing unified data governance for cloud, app-based, and on-prem systems. The GA is part of the company’s previous announcement regarding the same that was made last year. Azure Purview will offer the customers both cataloging and management of data paired with governance. This will show the companies whether their data is compliant and secure. Azure Purview contains three main components, namely Data Map, Data Catalog, and Data Governance.
Data Catalog is basically a data search tool that has various filters like sensitivity labels, glossary terms, classification, and more. Data Map is a feature that is used to capture metadata on enterprise data present in the operations and analytics systems cloud and on-prem. Data governance is very integral for giving the users a bird’s-eye view of the company’s data. This view will help in gaining critical insights like data movement, distribution, and storage. The Azure Purview has many of Microsoft’s products integrated both on-prem and cloud, like Azure SQL, SQL Server, and Azure Synapse Analytics. Furthermore, the service can also connect the users with other non-Microsoft products like AWS, Oracle Database, and Snowflake.
